Friends, Donors and Volunteers,
It has been two months since my last update. The reason is due to the large number of donated items and requests for assistance.
In June we had a total of 31 donations and 19 requests for assistance. We had a total of $579 in monetary donations. In addition, I delivered groceries, toiletries and dish & laundry detergent to 9 families/individuals in addition to those receiving those items at our two monthly programs.
We delivered refrigerators, stoves, dressers, chest of drawers, sofas and chairs, dining tables and chairs, microwaves, coffee and end tables, Tents, ropes flashlights and lanterns, 2 piece china hutch, TVs, bowls, pictures, wrought iron shelf,Queen size head & footboard and rails, washer & dryer, coffee maker, mixers, blenders, a variety of dishes & pots and pans, baby bed, shoes, griddles, adult pull-ups, 4 poster bed, mattress, springs & rails, twin beds, lamps and various other items.
In July we had 44 donations, 12 of which were monetary in the amount of $1579. The money which I have listed does not include any money which was sent to Olivet Baptist and Startown Baptist churches.
During July we had requests for assistance from 23 families and individuals. The items we delivered were similar to those listed in June, just more of them. I delivered groceries to 8 families in July above our monthly program distributions.
Our average attendance since May has been over 60 people at each of our programs and I'm averaging almost 15 calls daily for help and donations. Needless to say, I stay busy.
We, along with help from Vision Outreach Ministries, our ministry partners in Conover are sponsoring a Back to School Bash (backyard Bible school) for the children in south Newton and surrounding areas from August 20-23 at the East First St. Baptist church ball field. They have very graciously allowed us the use of this facility for these 4 nights. We had eleven people come out to hand out 250 flyers last Saturday morning. We are praying for a good turnout each evening. We will be giving backpacks to each child with school supplies in them on Saturday evening and will have a cookout of burgers and dogs for all. If you would like to help with this important outreach to these children and families, contact me or Alvin and Debbie Benge. We can use your help.
God continues to supply all the needs we have for those in need. We are still praying and looking for a facility in the Boundry St. area which we can use as a place for homeless to shower and wash clothes and as a place to share with them about their need for salvation. They need Jesus and we are trying to make sure they hear about Him each time we meet. Josh Benge does a wonderful job of presenting a short Gospel message each time we meet and everyone enjoys his messages.
Please continue to pray that all our efforts are centered in the will of God. Thank you for your donations, volunteer help and prayers for me as I head this great ministry God has given me. It is so wonderful to have each of you play such a strong and vital part in seeing this effort go forward. As you can see from the statistics above, there is no way one person can accomplish what we do each month. It takes each of you playing your part for any of this to happen. We are making a difference in peoples lives all around Catawba county and even into Caldwell county.
God Bless each of you,
